Survival Skills Second Session for Ages 10 – 14
Thurs., May 25, 9:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. – California Woods Nature Preserve
Get outside and learn some survival skills! Build a lean-to shelter using only materials of the forest. Test your survival knowledge with a “Worst Case Scenario” multiple choice hike. After lunch, build a fire as a team and cook your own s’mores! Make sure to pack a lunch and drink, and dress for the weather. This program is outdoors, rain or shine. Fee: $25 per child.
Fri., May 26, 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. – French Park
When is the last time you enjoyed an evening hike in a woods? Put on your boots to venture across streams and hike up steps to discover the animals that prefer to be active during dawn and dusk. Appropriate for families with ages 8 and up. Meet at the parking lot across from the French House which is midway up the park road.

Animal Encounters & Nature Games
Sun., May 28, 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. – Stanbery Park
Have you ever played Quick Frozen Critters? How about Lemonade? Families with children ages 6 and up learn some of our favorite summer day camp games while learning important ecological principles such as predator vs prey and animal adaptations. Between games, get a close view of the animals cared for at the nature centers. FREE, but reservations required;
