Explore Nature! looking for Teen Volunteers

Do you know a teen who LOVES the outdoors?

Do they enjoy spending time with children?

Are they at least 13 years old?

Cincinnati Parks has half day and full day opportunities to volunteer this summer in our Nature Day Camps at Ault Park, Burnet Woods, California Woods, French Park, LaBoiteaux Woods, Mt. Airy Forest and Stanbery Park. Many of our CIT volunteers were campers when they were younger and volunteer for several years because of the skills they gain and pure enjoyment of our fun, educational camps!

The CIT program is an awesome opportunity for teens (13 & up) to learn new skills in a fun, safe environment. Our Counselors-in-training assist group leaders during games, give guidance during crafts time, provide an additional watchful eye during hikes and other engaging activities. CIT’s are also sometimes paired as a “buddy” with a special needs child who requires more personal attention during camp activities.

Volunteers show respect for the environment, enjoy being outdoors in all weather conditions, have a desire to gain experience interacting with children and work a full week of assigned camp.

This opportunity is typically approved for school service credit hours.

If you know a teenager who would be interested, please email our CIT Coordinator, Christyl Johnson-Roberts via email Christyl.johnson-roberts@cincinnati-oh.gov or call 513.321.6070. She will provide the application, information about the interview process and training.

Every CIT will complete and submit an application, personal reference, complete an interview, and attend an orientation.
