Thursday, August 3, 2017 Venti Viennese: Coffeehouse of Culture Burnet Woods Bandstand | Clifton 6-6:45pm 5kBrass, 7-7:45pm Elementz, 8-9pm, Elementz and CCO Vienna: The city of the Habsburg Empire, Mozart, Beethoven… and coffeehouses! The Vienna coffeehouse tradition and culture is unlike any other city in the world. These were extended living rooms of the town where writers, dancers and composers relaxed and enjoyed intellectual and musical pursuits. In these cafés, “serious” and “popular” music coexisted side-by-side and inspired each other. Building off that spirit of innovative composition, the program will explore the relatively unknown musical world of coffeehouse music and hear a remix based on Beethoven, brought to life by hip hop artists with Elementz. Come expand your mind with an exploration of the familiar and the unfamiliar. Coffee will be available for purchase!
