Magic Forest Halloween Hikes Returns

The Annual Magic Forest Halloween Hikes event will be happening again this year on October 19 and 20 at Caldwell Nature Preserve. The non-scary hike takes place on a pumkin-lit trail and is geared towards children ages 3-10. While hiking through the woods, visitors will meet characters such as the Green Witch, the Four Seasons, a chatty bat and a helpful spider along with others from nature and history.

This beloved event is a Cincinnati tradition and has been occurring annually since 1980. Park staff from Explore Nature! spend several days preparing for the event by decorating the trail with 200 luminaria lights and assembling pumpkins which will be turned into jack-o-lanterns. Many hours go into creating the detailed and unique carvings, and the effort is made possible by the help of volunteers.  This year, the Alzheimer’s Association, three separate Girl Scout troops and a group from Crossroads Church will all be assisting with their creative talents.

Tickets for Annual Magic Forest Halloween Hikes are only $6 per person (children under two are free) and can be purchased online. Pre-registration is required; for more information,
