We, the Board of Park Commissioners of the City of Cincinnati acknowledge our responsibility to control and manage the Cincinnati Park System. The Park Board is committed to implementing and maintaining best practices and procedures for financial accountability and prudent management of Park resources. We are dedicated to providing clean, safe, environmentally sound, free, accessible and community responsive Parks and Park operations. We take very seriously questions recently raised about Park Board expenditures and procedures. In November 2015, the City of Cincinnati retained Crowe Horwath LLP, an independent accounting firm, to provide analysis, advice, and recommendations relating to financial practices of the Park Board, the Park Department, the Cincinnati Park Foundation, and affiliated organizations. The Park Board and staff are cooperating in this process. We anticipate Crowe Horwath’s initial report May 30, 2016, and we will devote prompt and deliberate attention to their analysis and recommendations.
We also take this opportunity to express our genuine support, appreciation and confidence in the Park Department staff and leadership team. Their vision and years of dedicated work have provided Cincinnati with a world class Park System which daily instills joy and pride for our entire community and our citizens. We genuinely appreciate that Parks Department’s leadership team and their staff continues to carry out their work and daily responsibilities during this time of question, ensuring that our parks remain beautiful, safe and enjoyable for everyone.
