About the Show:

Floral Show Horticultural Delights

The show features many iconic Cincinnati landmarks such as the Taft Museum, Union Terminal, the Eden Park Spring House and new this year, the Tyler Davidson Fountain as well as a riverboat with real smoking stacks!  Natural components such as pine cones, nuts, bark, sticks and moss are used by the Applied Imagination team to construct all of the houses, train tracks and trestles.  These striking buildings are surrounded by red pointsettias, white edged spider plants, purple persian shield, spicy rosemary, and lovely amarylis to create a delightful experience for all the senses.

A Cincinnati Scenic Railway celebrates the rich history of the beautiful Queen City and its 7 hills which embraces a rich history of architecture, parks, food, music, and culture.  The diversity found in the river city forms the backbone of Cincinnati and has contributed to its continued splendor and success.  Enjoy and share the tradition of The Cincinnati Park Board’s Krohn Conservatory Holiday Show with friends and family!

The show designer is Bethany Butler, a Krohn Florist who graduated from Miami University with a B.A. in botany and a minor in horticulture. Ms. Butler has worked for The Cincinnati Park Board for five years and is responsible for designing many of the floral shows.

Fantastic Train and Historical Botanical Architecture:

Applied Imagination is unique in the world of garden railway displays.  The train display and historical buildings created by Applied Imagination will immerse our visitors in the sights and sounds of chugging trains and splashing water, with trains overhead and trolleys at your feet.  The “botanical architecture” of bridges and historical buildings, including the new Roebling Bridge, are all constructed of locally gathered willow and other natural materials. The Krohn Conservatory invites you to try the new interactive  section of the  displays, where the family can take the conductors seat and run a train, turn on and off building lights, and operate railroad crossings!  The whole family will this enjoy this addition!

New This Year:

The Schmalz Family Holiday Village

In addition, a new display of vintage holiday decorations given to the Krohn this year by the Schmalz Family will bring back fond memories of holidays past for some, and are sure to brighten the eyes of the little ones.  This amazing collection will be displayed throughout Krohn and includes "Motionettes" (moving characters) that were feature in the windows of Shillito's and Pogues years ago and delighted generations during the holiday season and much more!
