Forces of Nature!: Outdoor Skills for Women and Girls
If you are a woman who loves the outdoors, we have a day full of FREE adventures for you! On May 6, Cincinnati Parks and REI are partnering to provide opportunities throughout the day for women and girls to experience the wonders and adventures of the OUTDOORS! By providing a supportive environment where females can have fun while respecting the earth , cheer each on and challenge themselves to practice new skills, participants will leave with new friendships and increased confidence.
Consider it a Girls Day OUT…but much better! Leave the shopping and pedicures to the others while you and your gals bond on shared interests of embracing the enjoyment of the great outdoors.
Start the day with FREE classes at the REI store in Rookwood Commons. From Backpacking to Orienteering to Bike Repair, these classes provide you with the basics needed and hands-on experiences to build competency. Our Park Naturalists will share tips for identifying and cooking local wild edibles as you enjoying tastings from various delicious recipes at 2pm and 2:45pm. They will prepare garlic mustard pesto and a flavorful balsamic maple vinaigrette dressing to have on spring time greens. Yum! Register at: https://www.rei.com/h/force-of-nature.
If your daytime hours are too busy, no worries. We are also offering an evening event the same day at Caldwell Nature Center (430 West North Bend Rd, 45216) from 6 – 8:30pm. From the basics of campfire building to the adventurous cooking of wild edibles, participants rotate through several stations provided by Park Naturalists and REI staff. A panel discussion with accomplished women adventurers will end the event. These amazing women have hiked thousands of miles, ridden bikes across the nation, wrangled horses, survived winter storms, and built community.
We are excited to share this adventurous day with outgoing women and girls in Cincinnati and inspire you to be a Force of Nature! Call 321-6070 for more information. #maythe4thbewithyou
