Cincinnati Parks has been ranked among the top ten for having the best park system in the United States, according to The Trust for Public Land’s 2016 ranking. The Trust for Public Land works to protect the places people care about and to create close-to-home parks. Their goal is to ensure that every child has easy access to a safe place to play in nature.
Cincinnati ranked 10th from the analysis of 100 of the nation’s largest cities with a ParkScore of 72.5. Items analyzed are:
Acreage – points for acreage are based on two equally weighted measures: median park size and parkland as a percentage of city area.
Investment and Amenities – points are awarded for investment and amenities based on two equally weighted measures: total spending per resident and an average of per-capita.
Access – points are awarded for access based on the percentage of the population living within a ten minute walk of a public park.
